Legzira Beach (Sidi Ifni)

Oh, this might surprise you…But Morocco, however, boasts a sandy coastline that is 1,200 miles (almost 2,000 kilometers) long. Along with tourist towns like Agadir and relaxed port cities like Essaouira, the beaches itself are breathtaking.

While some offer the ideal escape from Marrakech’s bustle, others take it to the next level with an abundance of adventure sports. Others, though, are merely pleasing to the eye.

Here’s our pick of 5 of the best beaches in Morocco:

Essaouira Beach – Located on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, Essaouira Beach is known for its windswept dunes and strong Atlantic waves, making it a popular spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing. The beach is located within the city of Essaouira, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its medina (old city) and ramparts. Along the beach, you’ll find a number of seafood restaurants where you can enjoy fresh catch of the day while watching the sunset over the ocean.

Agadir Beach – Located in the city of Agadir on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, this beach is known for its golden sands and warm waters. Agadir Beach is a popular destination for tourists, with a number of beachfront hotels and resorts to choose from. The beach is also home to a number of water sports activities, including parasailing, jet skiing, and stand-up paddleboarding.

Plage Blanche – Located in the town of Sidi Ifni on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, Plage Blanche (or “White Beach”) gets its name from the powdery white sands that stretch for miles along the shoreline. The beach is surrounded by dramatic cliffs and is known for its crystal clear waters, making it a popular spot for swimming and snorkelling. There are a number of small restaurants and cafes along the beach, offering fresh seafood and traditional Moroccan dishes.

Oualidia Beach – Located on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, Oualidia Beach is a hidden gem known for its serene, lagoon-like waters and picturesque setting. The beach is surrounded by lush green forests and is a popular spot for birdwatching. The waters here are calm and shallow, making it a great spot for swimming and paddling. There are a number of small, family-run restaurants along the beach where you can enjoy fresh seafood and traditional Moroccan dishes.

Taghazout Beach – Located on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, Taghazout Beach is a surfer’s paradise known for its consistent waves and laid-back atmosphere. The beach is located within the small fishing village of Taghazout, which has become a popular destination for travellers in recent years. Along the beach, you’ll find a number of surf schools and rental shops where you can learn to surf or rent equipment. There are also a number of small cafes and restaurants along the beach where you can grab a bite to eat or relax with a drink while watching the surfers ride the waves.
